27 AUG – Report launch event: Information ecosystems in Latin America and the Caribbean

Barbara Paes

Join us for the launch of our new report sharing learnings from our research into information ecosystems in Latin America and the Caribbean.

As we’ve mentioned before, working on this project has been an incredible opportunity to engage with many peers and partners who are leading creative and transformative work throughout the region and we’re looking forward to sharing some of what we have learned!

In our report, we share insights inspired by the strategies used by civil society organisations, journalists, and activists to create more balanced creation, exchange, flow, and uses of information, as well as recommendations for funders and donors who are interested in further supporting that type of work.

We’re hosting a community call next month to celebrate the publishing of our report, where we’ll hear from some of the voices that inspired this research, including:

  • Leonardo Aranda, Founder and Director at Medialabmx
  • Desirée Yépez, Journalist at Mullu TV; and
  • Gabi Juns, Executive Director at Instituto Lamparina

We’re also going to be joined by Cristina Veléz Vieira, a digital social researcher who has worked with The Engine Room on this project.

Join us!

Anyone with an interest in the topic is welcome – we’d love you to join! Our call is happening on August 27, at 11am GMT-4 (9am Mexico, 10am Bogota, 12pm São Paulo). Register here to participate

For this call, we’ll be speaking mostly in Portuguese and Spanish and there will be interpretation available for Portuguese, Spanish and English.

While we put the finishing touches on our report, you can explore the blog posts we’ve written about this research. In the meantime, keep an eye on our website, social media and our newsletter, where we’ll share the report as soon as it is published.

See you there!
